ToDaZeD Good Advice
will he take it?
Junaid M. Afeef, director of public and government Affairs at the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago, thinks O’Possum ought to “take a principled stand.”
...Mr. Obama is another victim of Islamophobia. He is now facing what Muslims have been and still are struggling with: an irrational fear and hatred of Muslims. Polls show that as many as 25% of Americans admit to prejudicial feelings against Muslims.
Mr. Obama knows that Islamophobia has taken root in the U.S. Islamophobia hits very close to home for him because his father, from whom he also derives his black heritage, was a Muslim.
While his heritage may include Muslims, Mr. Obama is a Christian, and when his religion is incorrectly identified he rightly corrects the record.
The problem, however, is the manner in which he corrects the record. ...He vociferously denies being a Muslim as if it were a slur.
Mr. Obama does not need to take this approach. He knows how to smash through barriers. He brought whites and blacks together in the primary, no small feat in a nation that still struggles with race issues.
As a great leader, Mr. Obama should take a principled stand on the issue of Muslims and Islamophobia.
...Every time Mr. Obama is incorrectly labeled a Muslim, he is also handed a golden opportunity to burnish his egalitarianism by challenging Islamophobes and debunking their bigotry. This would serve the purpose of correcting the record. It would also serve to elevate Mr. Obama to a higher moral ground.

ToDaZeD O'Possum WTF?!?
wtf?!?
I can only imagine what was going on here…
---raaacist impressions of clingers?
---flip-flop injury?
---sudden thong bunch-up syndrome?
---good-ol’-boy/cattle prod hyjinks?

ToDaZeD Coveted Endorsement
may I be forgiven for schtick-heisting
John McCain earned the endorsement of ... Erik Estrada. “...he’s a good man, he’s a man’s man and I want to support him and I want him to be my next president. And I will do what I possibly can,”...
...Estrada said, adding that he is planning to host a $250,000-plus fundraiser for McCain in Laguna Beach, Calif.

"NO WMDs!!!"
Iraq has sold it’s Saddam-remnants to Canada.
The 550 tonnes of “yellowcake,” the seed material for higher-grade nuclear enrichment, was sold to Canadian uranium producer Cameco Corp. in a transaction the official described as worth “tens of millions of dollars.”
Iraqi government officials sought buyers on the commercial market, where uranium prices spiked at about $120 per pound last year. It’s currently selling for about half that. The Cameco deal was reached earlier this year, the official said.
At that point, U.S.-led crews began removing the yellowcake from the Saddam-era containers — some leaking or weakened by corrosion — and reloading the material into about 3,500 secure barrels.
In April, truck convoys started moving the yellowcake from Tuwaitha to Baghdad’s international airport, the official said. Then, for two weeks in May, it was ferried in 37 flights to Diego Garcia, a speck of British territory in the Indian Ocean where the U.S. military maintains a base.
On June 3, an American ship left the island for Montreal, said the official, who declined to give further details about the operation.
It arrived in Montreal on Saturday
But wait—there’s more:
The yellowcake wasn’t the only dangerous item removed from Tuwaitha.
Earlier this year, the military withdrew four devices for controlled radiation exposure from the former nuclear complex. The lead-enclosed irradiation units, used to decontaminate food and other items, contain elements of high radioactivity that could potentially be used in a weapon, according to the official. Their Ottawa-based manufacturer, MDS Nordion, took them back for free, the official said.
Who gets the Plame for this?
Under Siege
Everything You Do...
I never got the whole plasma/flat screen giant TeeVee thing—Heck, I barely get TeeVee anymore [’cept for crab fishin’]—but it appears that those who do are the next group to come under siege.
A gas used in the making of flat screen televisions, nitrogen trifluoride (NF3), is being blamed for damaging the atmosphere and accelerating global warming.
...The gas [NF3], widely used in the manufacture of flat screen TVs, is estimated to be 17,000 times as powerful as carbon dioxide.
..."We don’t know what’s emitted, but what they’re producing every year dwarfs these giant coal-fired power plants that are like the biggest in the world,” [Professor Michael Prather] said.
“And it dwarfs two of the Kyoto gases. So the real question we don’t know is how much is escaping and getting out."
No, the real question is “Whatinhell are you talking about?!?”

Fightin' Back
I do not think these Americans are who you think they are...

This site is dedicated to re-establishing and protecting your right to Freedom of Choice.
We did not ask our state government for these new draconic Smoking Ban Laws. We are demanding a complete removal of such bigoted, unconstitutional and unscientifically based prohibition laws.
Yeah, I know: draconic... Maybe it’s a pun.
I hear these folks interviewed on da raadio this am [???] and they’ve joined with the local bikers and other groups and are fighting all the nazi nanny laws together.

It Didn't Happen
but I like it...
Senator Thad Cochran, [R-Mississippi [recalled] a trip to Central America in 1987.
"McCain was down at the end of the table, and we were talking to the head of the guerrilla group here at this end of the table and I don’t know what attracted my attention ...But I saw some kind of quick movement at the bottom of the table and I looked down there and John had reached over and grabbed this guy [an associate of President Daniel Ortega] by the shirt collar and had snatched him up like he was throwing him up out of the chair to tell him what he thought about him or whatever.”Mr. Cochran, who has spoken about Mr. McCain’s temper in the past, added, according to the newspaper: “I don’t know what he was telling him, but I thought, ‘Good grief, everybody around here has got guns and we were there on a diplomatic mission.’ I don’t know what had happened to provoke John, but he obviously got mad at the guy…and he just reached over there and snatched” him.
The “or whatever” doesn’t help the guy’s credibility but it’s a good story…
Mr. McCain said, “It’s simply not true,” although he acknowledged, “I must say, I did not admire the Sandinistas.” Then he added, “There was never anything of that nature, and it just didn’t happen."

So how about the timing of the release of those FARC-held hostages?
I am Joe!
Actual Americans
Hey, politicos! You are outmatched in perception, comprehension, and solutions by your electorate. You’ve spent too much time in the echo-chamber of your committees, “friends” and PACs. Wise up.
OR *clicky*clicky*
Watch for more here.
I’d venture to say more Americans are like this fella than are like the whinging “gimmie crowd” that is the target audience for the pandermania that is politics of late. Now we all just gotta take a little time out and act on it.

Buzzword Watch
yanno yer in trouble when...
When you hear the word “stakeholder”. When ya hear the word “inclusive,” or “diverse”. Not to mention “sustainable” or it’s more obvious cousin “green.”
Ground Zero is a perfect storm of contemporary American politics.
...19 different governmental entities from every level of government each laying claim to some component of the overall project.
..."dozens" of family groups representing the victims,
...promises to still be “inclusive,”
...productive decision making has fallen as a public value below “being heard." Even being heard is no longer enough. The “stakeholders” have to prevail
“Being Heard” did not tame a continent.* “Stakeholders” did not walk on the Moon. This kind of crap creates a nation that is not sustainable.

Why would the leftist revolutionaries not want to celebrate the most meaningful, enlightened revolution in human history?
Do they really feel so confident in our stupidity that they think their spurning a celebration of Human Liberty would go un-noticed?
Update From the Land of Fruits 'n' Nutz
More than ya wanted to know
Here’s the great nooz: Gavin Newsom is running for Governor. Yep. of Cahleeforhneeiah California, duudeComrade. Fortunately, he’s not alone. Unfortunately, the rest of the roster is similarly dismal.
Attorney General Jerry Brown [yep - ol’ Governor Moonbeam wants to recycle], Lt. Gov. John Garamendi [of the insurance kerfluffle], Treasurer Bill Lockyer, Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell, former state Controller Steve Westly and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa [the MeCHAnic of LA]. So far, however, Rep. Loretta Sanchez of Orange County is the only “name” politician to file exploratory papers.
That little shot at VIllaMeChA by SF columnists Matier & Ross may be due to VillaGrosso’s holding his kick-off fundraiser in SF.
The politician, who used Caesar Chavez’s “Yes, We Can” slogan in his first campaign, fired off the first shot in the 2010 governor’s race. ‘Yes, we can’ raise campaign funds in the City of San Francisco, home of one his chief rivals for the governor’s seat, Mayor Gavin Newsom. True, the fundraiser was for his re-election campaign for LA mayor.

Kicking off his campaign for LA mayor at the Neiman Marcus rotunda in SF?!? Waaay to Machivellian for Villawossface: that’s the hand of Dean of CA Politics, Willie Brown.
Gavin the dumbass novice made a fatal CA mistake in 2003—he didn’t take a phone call from Brown in 2003.
Willie Brown was a co-chair of the June 24th Villaraigosa fundraiser.
Gavin, lie down, you’ve failed to notice you’re dead.
Also behind Villanothead;
Super fundraiser and lobbyist Darius Anderson
Darius Anderson is Kenwood Investments, the $1 billion re-developer of Treasure/Yerba Buena Island [green, of course] and the even more lucrative Hunter’s Point Redevelopment Project just passed by SF voters.
To pay for infrastructure and other development costs, the group will spend nearly $500 million and the city will borrow $700 million through the issuance of bonds backed by property taxes collected from the [Yerba Buena/Treasure] island after development is completed. The city can share in the profits after the developers have realized a 20 percent return on their investment.
What’s the profit margin on eeevil Big Oil—6 or 9%? Oh! Can we chorus “windfall profits?!?”
Also co-chairing Villawhatever’s committee is San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris, Obamanaut and possible candidate for Obama’s U.S. Attorney General. [Bemember both Villanaught and Newsom were Hillary supporters...]

Newsome and Harris’ latest gift to the state of Unrest California is the finger-pointing storm among them, local judges and other “officials” over their freeing juvenile, illegal-alien crack dealers.
[Gavin et al] had been flying Honduran juvenile drug dealers to their homeland [at City expense], from which they were free to return, until the federal government demanded that officials halt the practice. The city then sent eight illegal immigrants convicted of dealing crack to a group home for juveniles [at City expense] in San Bernardino County, where all escaped within days.
[Group homes, as the term is generally used, are for foster kids, generally those who blow out of several foster family placements and are deemed “unadoptable” due to “Severe Emotional Disorder” [SED].]
Little Kamalla Harris is also she of the “No-Death-Penalty” Pledge—even in the case of Tony Bologna and his two sons being shot dead in their car by a [likely illegal] gang-banger.
We ain’t gonna need shades to look at this state’s future…

"You'll need another permit for that."
Satan expands his domain
From which circle of hell did all these finger-waggers spring? Never have I seen so many preachers so keen to bully others for their own “good”.
...A licence for cigarettes, Roxon says, is “one of the types of things” her health taskforce may tell her to impose.
...Judge the censorious mood from this homely planet-saving advice in last month’ edition of the Rural Women’s Network Newsletter: “At Easter, we avoid foil-wrapped chocolate eggs by having our kids paint hard-boiled eggs and stones . . . For my daughter’s sixth birthday last year we took a tribe of children on a nearby bushwalk and had a rubbish-collecting competitions.”
Stones for Easter eggs? Rubbish collecting for a little girl’s party? This isn’t meant to save a planet but to impose someone’s joy-killing morality.
It’s not just a madness confined to Australia, of course. The Left in every English-speaking land is now indulging its inner totalitarian.
...When strangers hover over your plate, demanding you eat not only your greens but your purples, yellows and whites, both of you have a problem.
...if that’s the bossing that Democrats inflict on each other, what might they do to everyone else once in power?
...
“We don’t realise how insidious this individualism is,” chorused our “best and brightest”.
“Individuality trumps community at every turn” when we really “need to move from individualism to community focus”.
...
Who unleashed these salon Stalinists? These health fascists? These warming commissars? Who let them loose to flog us sinners into living lives more holy, by their grim creed?
Enough. Non-smokers of the world, unite and light up. ... but better to puff on our feet than to live on our knees.

"I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest,” he added in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. “Instead, I’m going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great and, hopefully, that will be a testimony to my patriotism.”
Read that line again: “What I believe will make this country great.”
Not to sound too much like a Jewish mother, but some might respond, “What? It’s not great now?"
‘Xactly. And I’m to believe some fella who votes “Present” when the chips are down is gonna “save” US. From what?
