Gone Walkabout in the Outback
A1
Hello from beautiful downtown Winnemucca!
Nice ‘n’ quiet as we pulled in on the last day of Run-a-Mucca—a bike run that is, refreshingly, not comprised of grim-faced, cranky-looking Harley-ites. [Hey, fella - you rode alla way out here on your wonderful bike; why you lookin’ like someone just pooped in your Cheerios?] All sortsa bikes from Road Kings to Honda knock-offs [some with ape hangers ?!?] [yes—on a Honda. Even saw a nicely decked out Boss Hoss! [wood trim on the dashboard, lights underneath!] Thought I saw an adventure bike or two, too.
The ‘in’ thing on this run is apparently putting glow-lights on your bike. There was a booth and folks were lined up for miles. ...ok - blocks. ...ok - across the parking lot. I think they’re kinda kewl, but in more ‘urban’ areas they might come off as a leedle… uhm, South of the Border. Maybe next they’ll sell welded chain handlebars! *snerk*
And you’ll never guess what we had for dinner last night—in a smoking dining room, no less [hey, baby - that’s the stench of Freeeedom!]— iceberg salad with Blue Cheese and a coupla mushrooms for that haute cuisine touch, rib eye - rare, huge Idaho baked with everything, and a big fat Cosmo! *happy girl dance* MMmmmmmmmmmmm!
Today is bright and clear and cool and it only took me 35 minutes to create coffee.... It was the penalty I hadda pay for my misdeed…
I always carry the precious bean [Sumatran is my latest crush] and filters with me and usually there is a coffee maker in the room. Not this time. So I *hangs head* went to WalMart after doing a thorough search of town [both streets] for a real local hardware/appliance store. Alas—WalMart already ate ‘em… After wandering around for phu-knows how long, I finally found the right section; but I already had that odd kind of numb-brain that giant over-stuffed stores and casinos cause in me. I grabbed what [I thought] was a little Sunbeam coffee maker and beat feet outta there.
This am - whining for coffee - I remove the damthing from its box only to discover it’s a hot water maker. crap. CRAP!
......Ok—I can McGiver something. Now, all I need is milk. Go down to the ‘continental breakfast’—fako “creamer” is all they have. Powdered. coffee whitener. yeech…
Off to Raileys for milk, I decide to check and see if The Mister was *cough* right *cough* and see if they do sell coffeemakers there. They do. I bought one and gave him a giant, heaping serving of “You were Right: I was Wrong” for breakfast.
That oughta hold him ‘til dinner.
So now, coffee-d up, we’re off to find the last traces of abandoned turquoise mines on BLM land and see if we can pick up any float. Keep yer fingers crossed. At the very least, I’m sure I’ll get some good pictures! Its beeee-youuuu-deee-ful here.

Last Thing Fer Sure!
but this is too important to lose track of. again.
I saw this before and Snopes-ed it [TRUE] but then misplaced it and got distracted. *eye roll*
Thanks to Babalu for bringing it back to my attention—it’s too god not to post.
This letter sent to Tennessee Senator Bill Frist from a retired border patrol
agent, and it has more common sense than all the bull being spewed from the
Senate, with the exception of a few sensible representatives.Dear Senator Frist:
There is a huge amount of propaganda and myths circulating about illegal
aliens, particularly illegal Mexican, Salvadorian, Guatemalan and Honduran
aliens.#1.
Illegal aliens generally do NOT want U.S. citizenship. Americans are very vain
thinking that everybody in the world wants to be a U.S. citizen. Mexicans, and
other nationalities want to remain citizens of their home countries while
obtaining the benefits offered by the United States such as employment,
medical care, in-state tuition, government subsidized housing and free
education for their offspring. Their main attraction is employment and their
loyalty usually remains at home. They want benefits earned and subsidized by
middle class Americans. What illegal aliens want are benefits of American
residence without paying the price.#2.
There are no jobs that Americans won’t do. Illegal aliens are doing jobs that
Americans can’t take and still support their families. Illegal aliens take low
wage jobs, live dozens in a single residence home, share expenses and send
money to their home country. There are no jobs that Americans won’t do for a
decent wage.#3.
Every person who illegally entered this nation left a home. They are NOT
homeless and they are NOT Americans. Some left jobs in their home countries.
They come to send money to their real home as evidenced by the more than 20
billion dollars sent out of the country each year by illegal aliens. These
illegal aliens knowingly and willfully entered this nation in violation of the
law and therefore assumed the risk of detection and deportation. Those who
brought their alien children assumed the responsibility and risk on behalf of
their children.#4.
Illegal aliens are NOT critical to the economy. Illegal aliens constitute less
than 5% of the workforce. However, they reduce wages and benefits for lawful
U.S. residents.#5.
This is NOT an immigrant nation. There are 280 million native born Americans.
While it is true that this nation was settled and founded by immigrants (legal
immigrants), it is also true that there is not a nation on this planet that
was not settled by immigrants at one time or another.#6.
The United States is welcoming to legal immigrants. Illegal aliens are not
immigrants by definition. The U.S. accepts more lawful immigrants every year
than the rest of the world combined.#7.
There is no such thing as the “Hispanic vote”. Hispanics are white, brown,
black and every shade in between. Hispanics are Republicans, Democrats,
Anarchists, Communists, Marxists and Independents. The so-called “Hispanic
vote” is a myth. Pandering to illegal aliens to get the Hispanic vote is a
dead end.#8.
Mexico is NOT a friend of the United States. Since 1848 Mexicans have resented
the United States. During World War I Mexico allowed German Spies to operate
freely in Mexico to spy on the U.S. During World War II Mexico allowed the
Axis powers to spy on the U.S. from Mexico. During the Cold War Mexico allowed
spies hostile to the U.S. to operate freely. The attack on the Twin Towers in
2001 was cheered and applauded all across Mexico. Today Mexican school
children are taught that the U.S. stole California, Arizona, new Mexico and
Texas. If you don’t believe it, check out some Mexican textbooks written for
their schoolchildren.#9.
Although some illegal aliens enter this country for a better life, there are 6
billion people on this planet. At least 1 billion of those live on less than
one dollar a day. If wanting a better life is a valid excuse to break the law
and sneak into America, then let’s allow those one billion to come to America
and we’ll turn the USA into a Third World nation overnight. Besides, there are
280 million native born Americans who want a better life. I’ll bet Bill Gates
and Donald Trump want a better life. When will the USA lifeboat be full? Since
when is wanting a better life a good reason to trash another nation?#10.
There is a labor shortage in this country. This is a lie. There are hundreds
of thousands, if not millions, of American housewives, senior citizens,
students, unemployed and underemployed who would gladly take jobs at a decent
wage.#11.
It is racist to want secure borders. What is racist about wanting secure
borders and a secure America? What is racist about not wanting people to sneak
into America and steal benefits we have set aside for legal aliens, senior
citizens, children and other legal residents? What is it about race that
entitles people to violate our laws, steal identities, and take the American
Dream without paying the price? For about four decades American politicians
have refused to secure our borders and look after the welfare of middle class
Americans. These politicians have been of both parties. A huge debt to
American society has resulted. This debt will be satisfied and the interest
will be high. There has already been riots in the streets by illegal aliens
and their supporters. There will be more. You, as a politician, have a choice
to offend the illegal aliens who have stolen into this country and demanded
the rights afforded to U.S. citizens or to offend those of us who are
stakeholders in this country. The interest will be steep either way. There
will be civil unrest. There will be a reckoning. Do you have the courage to do
what is right for America? Or, will you bow to the wants and needs of those
who don’t even have the right to remain here? There will be a reckoning. It
will come in November of this year, again in 2008 and yet again in 2010. We
will not allow America to be stolen by third world agitators and thieves.David J. Stoddard

Losing Freedom, The UN Attacks the Second Amendment
this is the very reason the Second Amendment was invented
July 4 is Independence Day. Many across America will celebrate the day that America declared itself a free and sovereign people. People will cook out on the grill, have family get togethers, and just celebrate freedom in general. However, the UN has plans for this day as well - and these plans are not at all celebrating freedom. These plans are sinister in character and threaten our sovereignty as a free nation.
The United Nations has decided to hosts it annual global gun ban conference called the 2006 Small Arms Review Conference or RevCon during the fourth of July holiday period right here on American soil. The UN ad its liberal allies in Canada, Australia and liberals right here in America would like nothing more than to erase the Second Amendment from the constitution and ban all firearms around the world.

W.T.F.?!?!?!?
squirrel starves to death in Dubya’s pants.

I think I’m gonna 1] be sick or 2] look around for the pod.
PRESIDENT BUSH: Sounds like kind of a familiar refrain here—saying “bring it on,” kind of tough talk, you know, that sent the wrong signal to people. I learned some lessons about expressing myself maybe in a little more sophisticated manner—you know, “wanted dead or alive,” that kind of talk. I think in certain parts of the world it was misinterpreted, and so I learned from that.
And listen to the geldings whinny in recognition of one of their own:
What happened to the Texas swagger?
Maybe it went the way of his poll numbers. Maybe this is a newly reflective President Bush. Or maybe the first lady had her say.
Whatever the case, when Mr. Bush said at a news conference on Thursday night that he regretted some personal mistakes, like declaring “bring ‘em on” in 2003, he seemed a little like the chastened husband who finally admitted he had done something wrong. Whether it worked or not depends on whom you ask.
...This is part and parcel of the influence of Josh — making sure you don’t go out there and thumb your nose at the entire world.”
“Josh” is Joshua B. Bolten, the new White House chief of staff, who was reared inside the Beltway, educated at Princeton and has never uttered a Texas colloquialism...
Well, I dunno if this suggestion has sufficient subtle aestheticism, delicacy, sophistication or savoir faire for Mister Princeton Pants, but what springs to my mind involves tar, feathers, rail, assembly.

Grassroots on FIRE!
for your perusal and edification:
To: President George W. Bush, Honorable Members of Congress.
As a concerned citizen, I believe illegal immigration is a national security crisis of the highest order and also poses a long-term threat to the American way of life. I am calling on Congress and the President to:
#1—Secure our borders. As first priority, America must stop the flow of illegal immigration by investing all necessary resources in securing our borders. Also, existing immigration laws must be enforced as an essential component of our Homeland Security.
#2—No Amnesty. I oppose any form of amnesty for illegal aliens, including the “temporary worker” proposal or any proposals that grant legal residency status or citizenship to illegal aliens.
(Check each issue that you support)
Aggressive deportation. Immediate investment in aggressive effort to deport the 12 million illegal immigrants currently within our borders – if you’re caught, you are sent back.No benefits. Erect a wall of separation between illegal aliens (and their children) and tax-dollar paid benefits reserved for U.S. citizens and legal aliens. I support H.R. 418 that prohibits illegal aliens from being issued drivers licenses and prevents terrorists from abusing the asylum laws of the United States.
No work. Stricter punishment of U.S. businesses that knowingly employ illegal aliens. Establish national database of legal immigrants to assist both public and private sectors in this effort.
English first. Legislation that establishes English as the required and preeminent language throughout the United States. Public and private sectors cannot be required to provide services in alternative languages.
No Birthright Citizenship. Illegals flood to the U.S. simply to have babies—which are then granted citizenship. Changing the current law is certain to curtail the illegal traffic.

Isn't this actually about *Integration*?
assimilation is such a Borg word...
When we picture those masses and masses of millions and millions of illegal Senate-blessed aliens in the US, we see—well, what I see every time I go to the other part of town: Little Mexico. I see people who aren’t ‘struggling to become Americans.’ I see people who brought their T’urd World country with ‘em. And demanding of US to cater to ‘em
When I wander around the rest of town, I see, here and there, the Middle Eastern family who runs the [wait for it] 7-11, a few Mexican families owning restaurants, the Asian family who owns and runs a string of the best dang strawberry fields you ever drooled over. There’re some Middle Europeans at another deli/restaurant downtown, and ...well, you get the idea. They’re Americans. They brought something to the party. They joined the party.
Those living in Little Mexico don’t seem to have that goal in mind. So isn’t it really about their raacism? Isn’t it a matter of US wanting them integrated and them declining the offer? Make something soundbyte-worthy outta that Teddy.

Toujour l' audace!
oops: Viva Osadía!

At a joint meeting of the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce [noooooo that’s not raacist—don’t be silly! *replaces “whites only” sign on water fountain*] and the California Chamber of Commerce yesterday;
Boasting that his country’s economy is stronger than ever before, Mexican President Vicente Fox told California business leaders Friday morning that Mexico has become a strong economic partner with the U.S. after three decades of struggle.
...what with all the US$ wandering Sud. Up to #2 source, iddn’t it—right after OOOOOIIIL?
"More that anything freedom is the driving force of change and modernization in Mexico..."
Yeah—the freedom to leave.
We’ve built a solid foundation for growth through job creation and a reduction of poverty,” he said, [rolling his eyes Northward]
While applauding the U.S. Senate for passing an immigration bill Thursday that would give millions of Mexicans in this country a way to stay here legally, Fox urged support for the economy of Mexico.
Is there any other time in history that the leader of a country has claimed pride in and touted as a success the fact that 1/10 of his population has fled his country for lack of work?
[no, really—I’m too history-challenged to know this. he’p me!]
"We’ve built an efficient, quality workforce,” he said. “
Yeah. I see ‘em every day—hanging around Home Depot parking lot and at a certain intersection just north of town.
Mexico is there, waiting for your investment."
Thanks, I already invested today. *burrito burp* [a ladylike *burrito burp*]
Ok—get out the duck tape for this next one: [seriously]
[don’t say I didn’t warn ya]
Fox also spoke briefly about the respect and pride his country has for the Mexican immigrants who have come to work in the U.S., and he said he is excited about Thursday’s vote in the U.S. Senate on immigration reform which he said will help support immigrants in fulfilling their destiny.
I warned ya.

*NOW* ya gonna say something?
British reserve has morphed into dhimmitude
In an interview with GQ magazine, the reporter asked [ MP George Galloway]: “Would the assassination of, say, Tony Blair by a suicide bomber - if there were no other casualties - be justified as revenge for the war on Iraq?”
Mr Galloway replied: “Yes, it would be morally justified. I am not calling for it - but if it happened it would be of a wholly different moral order to the events of 7/7. It would be entirely logical and explicable. And morally equivalent to ordering the deaths of thousands of innocent people in Iraq - as Blair did."

I could give this pompous asno such a bofetada!
presuntuoso putz
Mexican President Vicente Fox [El Zorro] on Thursday called the U.S. Senate’s landmark vote on immigration policy a “monumental step forward” that marks a historic moment in the relationship between Mexico and the U.S.
“It is a moment that millions of families have been hoping for. This is the moment that millions of people have been working for,” he told a joint session of the California Legislature. [*gah*] “Today’s historic vote is a monumental step forward, but we recognize that there is more debate ahead.”
..."I stand here before you, above all, firmly convinced that as in other crucial moments of our history, our shared vision, commitment and courage can help us take yet another step forward to the benefit of our two great nations,”...
